The previous minutes as submitted by Brenda were accepted (David and
Don moved). |
|
Treasurer |
Don has e-mailed the current financial reports. He received the city’s second rink grant
installment. Treasurer's report was accepted on a motion by Don and seconded by
David. |
|
Councillor Kreling |
·
Diane Stuemer is gravely ill, is not expected to
survive. See below. ·
Final issue of the Communiqué will be mailed this
week. ·
City is examining its office space. They will concentrate on 3 buildings:
Laurier Avenue, Nepean City Hall (Ben Franklin Place) and Cumberland Town
Hall. They are also looking at the
land surrounding the Cumberland Town Hall for other public facilities, e.g.
arts center, Kiwanis play structure. ·
Public-Private Partnership process narrowed down to
2 east end submissions: Serco and Ellis Don.
Serco is thinking of 2 more rinks at Ray Friel site. City may offer industrial land SW of Innes
and Tenth Line for the rinks. The
AACP bid for the Carine Wilson facility had no financial backing, and so was
dropped. ·
Official plan public meetings next week, also OC
Transpo consultations. |

Petrie/Website / Canada Day |
David passed on the Trillium Foundation plaque to the Friends of
Petrie Island. David added a link to the police information on Neighbourhood Watch on
our web site. Next Canada Day meeting 24 Feb. |
|
Rink Report |
Zybina mentioned that she received very positive comments from Mark
McGee of the city concerning the quality of Fallingbrook’s rink
surfaces. Everyone commented that
Paul Pelletier has done a marvelous job. |
|
Newsletter |
Don suggested that we wait until after the volunteer awards evening
for the next newsletter. Given that
the Communique will cease publication, he will ask the councilors to each
write a half-page article. He will also look for local columnists to fill the
void in local information. |
|
Recreation |
George has resigned from the badminton club. The club is over capacity and does not accept
new members. It needs more gym space. |
|
Volunteer Awards |
Awards evening 26 April. George
and David are the nominating committee. Zybina will invite dignitaries, will ask Fred Sherwin to advertise for nominations. |
